Sip, Stroll & Savour: Lighthouse, Villages, & Gin Tasting

Our journey begins at the captivating Wategos beach, a hidden gem nestled within the Byron Shire. This enchanting beach, once a humble fishing village, has evolved into a coastal paradise. Here, we savour the aromatic allure of freshly brewed coffee, courtesy of Rae’s coffee cart. As you sip your coffee, gaze out at the sea, where surfers from around the world gracefully ride the waves. With our senses awakened, we embark on the renowned Cape Byron Lighthouse walk. Along this scenic route, we pause to appreciate awe-inspiring vistas and perhaps spot the diverse coastal wildlife. The lighthouse itself stands as an iconic symbol of Byron Bay, marking the easternmost point of Australia. Cherished by both locals and visitors, it offers panoramic views that extend to the distant Mt. Warning, a spectacular sight against the backdrop of the untamed beauty of Tallow and Clarke’s beaches. Our journey continues into the lush Hinterland, where the quaint village of Newrybar await, steeped in federation-era charm. Here, unique stores within historical buildings beckon for some retail therapy. With appetites whetted, we proceed to Lennox Head, home to Shelter, a hidden culinary gem offering delicious food and ocean views. Afterward, the coastline invites a leisurely post-lunch stroll. To cap off our day, we visit the Cape Byron Distillery for a cheeky gin tasting, a fitting finale to our adventures before returning to the heart of Byron Bay.
